BHOOMIKA TRUST Our Vision best defines what we aim to do and what we are; An informal coming together of few friends to support those affected by Gujarat Earthquake in 2001, witnessed the devastation caused by the earthquake, the suffering of the people in the immediate aftermath, followed by the long-term consequence of rebuilding homes, vocations and schools. The devastation caused in communities, in every aspect of their life, that are already underprivileged emphasized the need for emphatic organized support. The vision of Bhoomika was born out of this experience. To work with underprivileged communities and individuals • In the field of education by, supporting Children's education through better infrastructure and qualitative intervention with an aim to make it relevant, to equip them with a mind to enquire, to be creative, sensitive to environment and people, helping preserve the planet. • At times of natural disasters by responding through the three phases of Rescue, Relief and Rehabilitation with the objective of impacting them to become resilient communities. Over the years Bhoomika has worked in Gujarat Earthquake (2001), Tsunami (2004), Utharkand Floods ( 2013), Jammu and Kashmir rains (2014), Chennai Floods (2015), Assam Floods and Cyclone Vardah (2016), Assam floods and Bihar Floods (2017), Kerala rains and cyclone Gaja (2018), COVID pandemic ( 2020) DISASTER RELIEF Bhoomika works with local partners and supports disaster victims through the Rescue phase through its 24/7 help lines in coordination with Authorities. As part of relief community Kitchens are set up and relief kits in the form of dry rations and other critical needs based on the nature of disaster are distributed to the affected Communities. DISASTER REHABILITATION: Our rehabilitation efforts have primarily focused on repairing schools, rebuilding schools and building houses and supporting livelihood aids through our Back to School, Back home and Back to Work programmes.
