BiAffect

For you, by you, BiAffect! Like a fitness tracker for the brain, I am a smartphone technology designed to track brain health and mental health as a person continues to use their phone as usual. I was originally created by a group of clinicians and researchers at the University of Illinois who saw the transformational power of digital technology back in 2016. Thanks to a lot of citizen scientists who helped me improve by contributing their data for research, my creators gradually figured out a way to unobtrusively track brain health by mathematically modeling the way we interact with our smartphone keyboard everyday (texting a friend, posting on social media, writing an email, etc.). From humble beginnings, I was initially seeded via a New Venture Fund funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation after I was selected as the winner of the Mood Challenge for Researchkit, and since then it has been quite an amazing journey!
