Biek Verstappen

In a 1938 flowershed near Amsterdam lies Biek Verstappen’s atelier. There her team works in solitude, creating fabrics and clothing from natural fibers such as raw silk, linen and a variety of wools. Relying on her instinct, she enjoys the quietness, intimacy, peace, and softness inherent to the material. She challenges herself by exploring the behavior of each fiber, combining them to create a unique intricacy and depth in her fabrics. During her dye process each fiber takes on a different color, highlighting the differences and resulting in a three dimensional piece that reflects her emotions and roots. relies on her instinct, enjoying the quietness, intimacy, peace and softness inherent to the material.
