⚓Biscay Marine Energy Platform, S.A., or BiMEP, is an infrastructure operating in real marine conditions for the research, demonstration and operation of marine energy collector devices. BiMEP has two sites:
🌊BiMEP site: A grid-connected offshore test site off the coastal town of Armintza.
🌊Mutriku site: A test site at the Mutriku Wave Energy Plant.
⚓Catering to a wide range of technology readiness levels (TRL), the test infrastructure has been designed to allow for testing and demonstration of:
🌊Wave energy devices
🌊Prototypes of floating platforms for offshore wind turbines
🌊Prototypes of deep water fixed foundations for offshore wind turbines
🌊Offshore wind turbines
🌊Auxiliary equipment and sub-systems
🔬The Harsh Lab is also installed in the BiMEP site, an advanced floating platform for the evaluation of standardized test pieces and components in real offshore environment.
