- Responsibility It is said that the average eyeglass wearer changes eyeglasses every third year. Despite of this most eyewear brands launch new collections more than four times a year. The many collections and large number of styles result in overproduction, dead stock and difficulties for the end consumer to navigate within the collections, understanding what style and size that suits them. It also results in high markups to cover the cost of unsold products. BioBio was founded as a reaction to this. We want to drive a positive change within the eyewear industry by offering one permanent collection designed to last. - Sustainability We are born bio-based. 100% of our collection is hand-crafted in premium Italian Mazzucchelli M49 bio-acetate, a biodegradable plastic made from wood pulp, cotton seeds and bio-based plasticizers. "The production and use of bio-based material has a double advantage: on the one hand, the use of fossil, and therefore limited, fuels (oil) is reduced, on the other hand the emissions of greenhouse gases are reduced." Mazzucchelli - Inclusivity The sizing system within eyewear never made any sense to us. Why aren't there more sizes than one or two for a classic style? And why can't kids have the same styles as adults, just as with a pair of jeans or a white t-shirt? BIOBIO is a lot about sustainability, but offering great designs to more people is equally important to us. This is why we create eyewear for all sizes and genders.
