Biodiversity And Ecosystem Services Research Group (Bioecos) company information, Employees & Contact Information

The Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (BIOECOS) research group is part of the Department of Computational Landscape Ecology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ). We focus on monitoring, mapping, and modeling spatio-temporal patterns of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Our work includes conceptual research, applied case studies, and the development of innovative methods. Our aims are: To understand how different land use systems impact species distributions and the capacity of ecosystems to provide ecosystem services. To identify and quantify trade-offs and synergies among ecosystem services, and between ecosystem services and biodiversity. To explore the use of remote sensing and geospatial data for decision-making and future monitoring capabilities. We value interdisciplinary collaborations and operate across a broad range of spatial scales, from local (individuals, populations) to national, continental, and global levels.
