About BioengineeredTumor Project
The Bioengineered Tumor project aims to transform cancer research and drug testing. 🧫🐁 The development of anticancer drugs remains slow and cumbersome, often due to the limitations of current preclinical assays and the low correlation of in vitro and in vivo data with clinical trial results. To address these challenges, a team of engineers from the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy (FTM) and the Innovation Center of FTM, along with life scientists from the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, Institute for Biological Research "Siniša Stanković," and the Faculty of Pharmacy, are on a mission to create novel, robust 3D in vitro tumor models. 💫 These models are designed to be simple, reliable, and effective for anti-cancer drug testing. The approach involves using different human and animal cancer cell lines together with alginate-based biomaterials as artificial extracellular matrices and perfusion bioreactors, to simulate the tumor environment. The ultimate goal 🚀 is to establish a platform for long-term in vitro studies of cancer cells, serving multiple applications: 🔬Anti-Cancer Drug Discovery and Validation 🔬Development of Personalized Medical Treatments 🔬 Advancing Cancer Research Support our research by following our advancements and activities 🙏🏻
