The program is structured to be a five week long intensive seminar, which will culminate with your very own research paper. The first two weeks of our course will familiarize you with all the requisite techniques to conduct your research. We start with a Python onramp, taking you from beginner/novice levels to being able to create your very own image recognition software. Then, we walk you through reputed programming problems from the Rosalind library. Finally, we end with a thorough introduction to the Galaxy computational platform, a state-of-the art system for modern computational biology research. Each participant would be paired up with other researchers of similar interests and skill levels, and finally be assigned a mentor. All of our mentors are highly qualified high-school researchers. All have received awards and attended local fairs, and some have even been bestowed the honor of being ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair) Finalists. These mentors would be helping you with common problems including, but not limited to, specific research procedures, data collection and exploration, writing your research paper, and publishing exceptional projects in academic journals.
