BioInitials has set itself the goal of developing non-invasive medical devices such as a toothbrush that monitor health by analysing biomarkers in saliva. The data read out with biosensors is analysed in combination with other data using artificial intelligence. This approach will not only provide insights into oral health conditions such as periodontitis and associated systemic diseases (e.g. diabetes and cardiovascular disease), but also the direct detection of disease progression, as in the case of asthma. The aim is to detect and predict the progression at an early stage, in the current Eurostars project the exacerbation of asthma.
