The Biophysical Sciences Institute inspires research in the biophysical and biochemical sciences. Our interdisciplinary approach allows us to offer new insights into fundamental biological systems.
Our Network
The BSI is a collaborative, engaged network of researchers ranging from PhD students through to senior leaders both within academia and industry. Our knowledge and experience covers the breadth of the physical sciences including mathematical sciences and computer sciences.
How we work
At the BSI we stimulate and support research at the boundaries between the life sciences and the other physical sciences. We fund new interdisciplinary projects; connect innovative tools to new applications and support groups and individuals to develop their interdisciplinary skills.
Research Themes
Our research is constantly evolving and changing. The novel techniques, technologies and methodologies employed by BSI members can be seen as fitting into one or more of our research strands: Bio-Interfaces; Physics of Life; Tools for Biosciences.
