Biosof LLC

Spun out of Columbia University in 2004, Biosof develops and commercializes computational solutions for the post genomic era. The Biosof team of four full- and part-time employees includes researchers from Columbia University and Rutgers University. Biosof’s flagship product, the PredictProtein sequence analysis suite, has been used by research scientists since 1992. The software is available as an online service and as of April 1, 2011 had an installed base of 75,597 users. In 2007 Biosof obtained exclusive licensing rights to PredictProtein (as well as to other tools and databases developed at the Columbia Medical Center) and, using its own funds, launched a commercialization effort that included direct subscription sales for the premium online version of PredictProtein as well as licensing the enterprise version of the software. Premium online access to PredictProtein is licensed primarily to individual academic users, while the enterprise solution is licensed to midsize and large biopharmaceuticals. For organizations in need for high-throughput data analyses, the Company plans to offer access to PredictProtein through a major provider of Cloud services starting the second of half of 2011.
