Founded in 2022, Biosurfactants Inc. builds on the remarkable properties of rhamnolipid, a natural biosurfactant secreted by the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa, first discovered in 1947, coupled with the power of artificial intelligence to identify environmental pathogens. Rhamnolipid biosurfactants have a multiplicity of uses, from environmental remediation by removing harmful viruses, bacteria, fungi, toxic oil-based organic compounds and heavy metals from the environment; mitigating harmful algal blooms from water courses; eliminating many diseases which otherwise affect plants, trees and agricultural commodities; use as a natural disinfectant; accelerating the healing of burn wounds; combating Covid 19 and other zoonotic viruses; and eliminating the eggs, larvae and adult forms of Aedes aegypti mosquitos, which are the vectors of the diseases dengue fever, yellow fever and chikungunya.
