BioTech Nexus Lab @CAS-QAAFI-UQ

The BioTech Nexus Research Lab is led by A/Professor Sheila Cecily Ommeh. The team is based at the Center of Animal Science (CAS), Queensland Alliance of Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI), The University of Queensland (UQ). Focus areas include, the use of Biotechnology Tools to improve Health and Production at the "One-health" interface. The team aims to develop Molecular Diagnostics and Vaccines that will detect and control endemic as well as notifiable diseases from the environment that may pose a threat to animals and humans etc. The team will also spearhead research using “Omics” to harness the emerging livestock species among indigenous communities as a complement source of quality protein and enhance food security.
