Kosovo Insurance Bureau is a professional non-profit membership organization for the insurance industry. The Government of the Republic of Kosovo recognizes this institution as a National Insurance Bureau with unlimited rights in the capacity of claims treatment and payment, which the Bureau guarantees the fulfillment of all obligations under the international insurance system.
The Bureau is the national representative in the Council of Bureaus and is responsible for all obligations arising from membership in the green card system. The Bureau performs the function of the Compensation Fund for the payment of damages provided for by this law, with the funds from the Compensation Fund.
Management of the Compulsory Insurance System – Monitoring and coordinating insurance companies to ensure the proper functioning of the Bonus/Malus system and to guarantee that all vehicles in Kosovo are covered by compulsory insurance.
Management of the Compensation Fund – To compensate accident victims when the perpetrator is unknown or uninsured.
Representation of Kosovo in the International Green Card System – The Insurance Bureau of Kosovo BKS is a member of the Green Card system and ensures the issuance of this document for vehicles traveling abroad.
Promotion of Road Safety and Risk Reduction – Includes undertaking initiatives for the education and awareness of citizens about traffic safety.
Education and Training of Insurance Company Staff – Overseeing the licensing and training of sales agents in the insurance industry, providing knowledge on fundamental concepts, key regulations, and best practices in the sector.
