Black Men Teach is a community network with the aim of tackling inequalities Black men face in education at its root, whilst amplifying their voices and celebrating successes.
At Black Men Teach, our structure has 4 arms enabling us to achieve our mission:
1) Forums/Talks - Conferences, CPD, Teach Meets, Research Discussion that are held periodically both in person and virtually.
2) Mentoring/Support - Providing one to one mentoring and/or group sessions to support Black men through the ITT process. Similarly curating safe spaces for current teachers to reflect, share and receive support on challenges they may be facing in education.
3) Community Hub - A social aspect of BMT, creating opportunities where Black Male Educators can lay down their tools for some fun, laughter, good food/drink and great company!
4) Outreach - Extending our work into secondary schools and universities, changing the narrative with regard to a career in education particularly looking at the recruitment and work with educational establishments to improve this!
