Virginia Tech’s leading group for students targeting a career in Investment Banking or Alternative Investments. Members undergo a rigorous training program after being chosen from a selective recruitment process. The Investment Banking Group prides itself on developing its members with the skills and knowledge necessary for an inevitable placement within the industry. What we teach: - Advanced accounting - Statement building from 10-k’s - P&L and statement forecasting - Advanced DCF’s - Comparable companies - LBO modeling - Merger models - Capital Markets (ECM, DCM, & LevFin) - Sell-side and buy-side processes Our deal simulation: - All members participate in a semester-long sell-side deal simulation - Members are given a data room with statements scraped from BamSEC, fake revenue data, contact data, assets with useful lives, pension obligations, etc - Team members then must form a teaser, DCF model (with forecasted statements, revenue build, WACC, NWC build, comparable companies, etc), comps valuation, and a valuation based on precedent transactions - With a football field, deal teams then create a CIP with all the necessary information to sell the given company - Deal teams will then present their CIP to potential buyers (placed seniors) and negotiate a final purchase price, with random company items being topics of discussion Check out last year’s deal simulation at: https://www.leidosdealsim.com
