Blancos Youth Ecosystem, founded in 2019, is a dynamic social entity committed to combating plastic pollution. From the start, we’ve rallied support and built partnerships across various institutions, understanding that this mission requires collaboration from all fronts. Our journey began by cleaning up illegal dumpsites in Nairobi’s Lucky Summer Area, evolving into a broader initiative to protect riparian zones. We meticulously sorted collected waste—High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE), Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE), Polypropylene (PPE), boxes, and white paper—and transported it to recycling facilities. By 2022, it became clear that recycling alone wouldn’t win the fight. As Blancos, we’ve shifted focus to innovative solutions, targeting single-use plastics, a major threat to our rivers and marine ecosystems. Our commitment to lasting change is stronger than ever.
