My name is Áine Ní Bhraoin and I created Blasta Delights in 2021, after having first created my crystallised ginger back in 2016 in Canada. It is a completely different taste experience to the commercial crystallised ginger that you find in the cooking aisle of the supermarkets. This is due to the punchy flavour of the Peruvian ginger that I use.
I use organic Peruvian ginger for all my products and a range of other quality ingredients like raw cane sugar. Why Peruvian ginger? It is three times as spice flavour than regular Chinese ginger and 3-4 times as small as the ginger you'll find in the supermarkets. The business is based on offering consumers zingy treats without the guilt. By using organic ginger I keep the skin on where possible which adds extra fibre and nutrients to my final products. Any skin removed is repurposed into adding extra earthy flavours to my syrup range. After this the skins are added to my compost or as fertiliser for any plants that I have.
Our current product range includes crystallised ginger and natural spiced ginger syrup along with seasonal flavoured ginger syrup, like Spiced Ginger Syrup or Ginger and Rhubarb, which will be the next flavour instalment. The syrups are a great replace for maple syrup where needed and a great addition to cocktail and mocktail mixes as well as anything sparkling.
Crystallised Ginger description
By using Peruvian root ginger, it gives this treat an extra kick of spice, as Peruvian ginger is three times as spicier than other ginger roots. So a small piece packs a punch. Made in small batches in Co.Kerry. The crystallised ginger can be snacked on or mashed up and add some hot water for a nice tea.
Ginger Syrup
Taste the fresh ginger flavours pouring from this syrup as you add it to your warm pancakes or porridge. This well balanced, natural ginger syrup compliments a range of tastes. By using Peruvian ginger, it gives a far more stronger flavour than your regular ginger.
