About Boston Local Development Corporation (BLDC)

The mission of the BLDC is to make loans to Boston small businesses that will retain or increase employment opportunities. The day to day operation of the program is provided by the staff of the Planning Department of the City of Boston. BLDC loans can be in amounts up to $250,000 for manufacturing businesses and up to $150,000 for non-manufacturing businesses. Proceeds may be used to support the working capital needs of a growing small business (e.g., expanded inventory, salaries and increased accounts receivables) and to fund leasehold improvements. Funds may also be used to purchase new business property, machinery and equipment and to fund additional construction for an existing plant. To qualify for a loan, businesses must be located in the City of Boston. For more information, including eligibility, please visit our website.
