Blessings in a Backpack mobilizes communities, individuals, and resources to provide weekend food for school-aged children across America who might otherwise go hungry.
Children are facing food insecurity in Southwest Florida and across every ZIP code in the United States. Thousands of kids rely on their school’s free and reduced-price meal programs during the week, but that support disappears on the weekends.
That’s where we step in. Blessings in a Backpack bridges the weekend hunger gap by providing kids with bags of satisfying, shelf-stable food each Friday, so they can return to school on Monday nourished and ready to learn.
The Blessings in a Backpack Southwest Florida Chapter supports children across dozens of schools and programs. With the help of dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and community partners, we are working to ensure hunger-free weekends for as many kids as possible. The need is great, and together, we can do more.
