About Blinter Magazine

Blinter Magazine covers stories about meaningful travel experiences, climate, sustainable dining, and culture. Founded by expert travel writer and photographer, climate journalist, artist, eco-poet, nature essayist, and fiction writer Emily Iris Degn, Blinter Magazine is where people meet planet; where the eco-humanities shake hands with a sense of wanderlust. Think articles about eco-resorts in Norway, how nature is finding its way onto the runway, and the ways that urban green space could save the world. Named after the Scottish word for "glimmer" or "flicker," Blinter Magazine celebrates the way that this world can leave us wonderstruck. This is journalism with feeling. Our name also pays homage to our heritage. With roots in the north (specifically the Pacific Northwest, Scandinavia, and the Celtic Isles), we specialize in tales centered on this area of the world. However, we make it a point to explore, so our travel stories tend to venture further out than our origins. We also publish interviews with figures who are making the world a more beautiful place, from scientists to biophilic architects to nature artists. We accept submissions from writers and photographers of all backgrounds and at all points in their careers. We celebrate inclusive storytelling and aim to publish stories written by a diverse community. If you would like to contribute to Blinter Magazine or want to be interviewed, send us an email at blintermagazineteam@gmail.com.
