Since 1919 Blom UK has been known by several names and has provided a variety of services, but the basics have always been the same… experienced staff producing innovative, high quality technical products.
Established in 1919 Aerofilms was the first commercial aerial photography company in the UK. Simmons Mapping was founded by Derek Simmons in 1965 and specialised in traditional land survey. In 1997 Aerofilms and Simmons Mapping merged to become Simmons Aerofilms Ltd. In 2005 Simmons Aerofilms was acquired by Blom ASA and became Blom Aerofilms. Since 2009 the company has been known simply as Blom.
The Blom Group was founded in Norway in 1954 and is now a European leader in the acquisition, processing and modelling of geographical information. Across Europe Blom Group has a workforce of over 1,100 trained staff all excelling in their fields of expertise.
Aerial photography and survey remain our core services and the group has 18 aerial survey planes and four helicopters to transport 23 large format cameras and 10 LiDAR systems around the globe. The company’s continuing growth is based on innovation and creating new services, in new industry verticals.
Blom is proud of the innovation culture present in all our offices. We continue to move into new markets and products, whilst maintaining our reputation for excellence in aerial photography and survey.
