MENSEN BLIJ MAKEN, DÁÁR TEKENEN WIJ VOOR
Blond Amsterdam opende haar deuren in 2001 met een klein atelier alias winkeltje aan de Spuistraat. Op Valentijnsdag, en dat was geen toeval. Want eigenaressen Femque van Geffen en Janneke Dröge hebben een doel: zij willen mensen blij maken. Beiden hebben de kunstacademie doorlopen, beiden komen uit Brabant, samen hebben ze een klik en die heeft geleid tot Blond Amsterdam. Want ze zijn ook nog eens allebei blond.
Alle illustraties ontwerpen Femque en Janneke zelf, tegenover elkaar aan tafel in hun atelier. Zij werken met liefde en heel veel plezier. Wereldwijd herken je inmiddels hun touch of Blond. De blozende, kleurrijke stijl. Met rake tekstjes. En altijd een twist. Aanvankelijk verschenen de illustraties alleen op serviezen.
Inmiddels is Blond veel breder. Met vrolijke wenskaarten, schoolspullen, blikken, thee, schorten, pannenlappen, T-shirts, dekbedovertrekken en nog veel meer.
Allemaal cadeaus waar je blij van wordt.
De Spuistraat heeft inmiddels plaats gemaakt voor Gerard Doustraat 69. En om het helemaal blond te maken, is in januari 2017 Café Blond geopend om de hoek, aan de Ferdinand Bolstraat.
