Hello! My name is Michael Blonk, and for the past 30+ years I have been implementing cutting edge data analytics and predictive models to help businesses achieve the best possible outcomes. However, my professional life began well before that. When I was only 10 years old, I found work as a paperboy delivering newspapers around the streets of Sydney. That job taught me a lot about being responsible in dealing with money, being reliable, and performing my tasks with a smile on my face. My work ethic has always been centered around delivering unexpected value to the roles I have taken on. These have ranged from working in telecommunications companies such as Optus, Telstra, Vodafone, and 3, through to helping local businesses in a variety of industries. No matter where I have worked, my tried-and-tested methodology of utilising data to create informed and objective predictive models has seen businesses increase revenue, reduce losses, and bring down operating costs. Since working for American Express in the early 80s, data has always been my strength. I get goosebumps every time I can help a business or company improve, grow, and move forward using my ability to create predictive models based on specific data. After decades of working in management positions within corporate environments, I decided to become my own boss and form BLONK Consulting. I recognised a gap in the market where small businesses didn’t have the resources to create credit risk management strategies based on data-informed models. My aim going forward is to help close this gap. By using corporate level strategies at a fraction of the cost, small businesses will have the capability to formulate successful credit strategies based on my proven methods. This signals a new chapter in my career that I couldn’t be more excited about, as I get to do what I love by using data and technology to help businesses plan and succeed in their futures.
