About Black Law Students Association at Georgia State University College of Law
In 1983, a group of student visionaries founded the Black Law Students Association chapter at the Georgia State University College of Law. The organization's goal was to support Black students through law school and increase African American representation in the legal community. Its inception came just one year after the law school's founding. To this day, the Ronald J. Freeman Chapter of BLSA continues to promote the educational and professional needs and goals of Black law students. As the largest and most active student organization at Georgia State Law, we seek to influence the legal community to bring about meaningful change that addresses the needs and concerns of the Black community. Our organization effectuates these goals by mentoring our members and connecting them with practicing attorneys in nearly every area of legal practice. Most importantly, the Ronald J. Freeman Chapter of BLSA has financially supported dozens of students with scholarships, thus providing resources to ensure deserving law students cross the finish line and earn their degrees.
