Blue Box Technology (BBT) is a Canadian owned company offering a product which recycles waste heat to generate electricity. The electricity can be used on-site to conserve energy or be sold back to the grid. The system is a skid mounted module that takes advantage of existing heat flows from an industrial process.
The BBT module consists of four main components:
• Air Compressor
• Waste Heat Exchanger
• Turbine Expander
• Generator
The product is a compact simple system that is easily installed and interconnected. Both compression and expansion take place in rotating machinery. The working fluid is air, the source of heat is a continuous waste heat stream, and the turbine drives a generator which creates electricity. Waste heat can be found in several industries including: Hazardous Waste, Petrochemical, Pulp and Paper, Foundries, Open Air Furnaces, Chemical, Cement and Wood Product Manufacturing. The BBT module has a low capital and operating expense, with very little maintenance required; it has high reliability with up-times of 98% and reduces the carbon intensity of the facility.
