The Blue Heron Foundation (BHF) was established in Los Angeles in 2002 by Romanian-American Stefania Magidson. Additionally, the organization has chapters in Romania and Moldova.
Blue Heron’s mission is to serve humanity, one individual at a time, by providing higher education, modern medical treatments, and community-building programs.
The foundation provides college and high school scholarships to vulnerable youth in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
When the Russo-Ukrainian war broke out, BHF expanded and developed 12 humanitarian programs including a complex Cancer Care Program for Ukrainian refugees.
Since 2002, over $3.5 million was raised from over 1,200 supporters, many of whom have become annual donors. The founders have always covered all administrative expenses so that 100% of all external donations can go straight to the beneficiaries.
During the past 20 years, BHF awarded over 450 scholarships, helped over 3,000 children, assisted over 8,000 Ukrainian refugees, and helped 162 cancer care patients receive treatment in Romania and Moldova.
