About Blueshift PDX
Blueshift designed and built the first ever supercapacitor-powered consumer electronics. Blueshift funded two campaigns on CrowdSupply, and shipped nearly 200 speakers in 2014 and 2015. Helium and Hydrogen speakers charge fully in 5 minutes (with wall adapter) and play back for 6 hours. Rated lifetime is 500,000 charge cycles. Sound is crisp and does not rely on any DSP - Helium is an audiophile grade portable speaker, built to last a lifetime. Blueshift was an experiment in building consumer products that focused on the consumer. The outcome was a great product, but as the manufacturing costs of commodity portable speakers dropped, it was hard to compete. In the end, the options were to cut the quality of the product, or dramatically increase consumer prices. In the end, Blueshift shut down in 2015.
