The Department of Biochemistry was established in 1957 under the headship of Prof. Kamaluddin Ahmad and is a component department of the Faculty of Biological Sciences.Recently it is renamed as Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. It was grown to be one of the largest and most successfull departments in the subcontinent with a wide range of research interest and a commitment to excellent teaching at the post graduate level.
