Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation A joint venture of Govt. of India and Govt. of Karnataka. Responsible for execution and operation of Metro Rail project in Bangalore.The first Reach from MG Road to Baiyappanahalli station has been opened from 20th Oct 2011. The Metro runs on standard guage using third rail at 750 V DC. Both elevated and underground stations are being constructed. Signalling technology employed is state-of-art using ATO, ATP, ATS. Telecom network consists of GE and SDH backbone with Tetra, BBRS and a complete surveillance network. AFC system uses contactless smart cards which are inter-operable in different transit and non-transit modes. The organisation has tie-up with reputed banks and a Mobile company for top-up of smart cards through ATM, netbanking, internet, mobile.
