About BMRI Biorepository Unit

The Biorepository Unit is a new, state-of-the-art facility which forms a part of the Biomedical Research Institute (BMRI) at Stellenbosch University, Faculty of Medical and Health Science. This facility provides both researchers academia and industry with a secure and cost-effective alternative to long-term -80°C sample storage by using the latest in cutting-edge storage technology – the Hamilton BiOS. The Unit also provides -190˚C vapour phase storage, sample processing and preparation for storage services with the sophisticated Hamilton easyBlood STAR. The Unit follows the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) guidelines.
