With a rich history in the local restaurant scene, Boathouse is owned and managed by John Morris, who played a pivotal role in Long Beach’s restaurant development, originally opening Legends, the city’s first sports bar, in 1978.
In 2014, Boathouse on the Bay opened as Long Beach’s newest waterfront venue, replacing McKenna’s on the Bay. Boathouse on the Bay also plays a central part in the Long Beach community, including hosting the spectacular annual "Big Bang on the Bay" fireworks show.
Big Bang on the Bay is one of Long Beach’s most celebrated events. It is an annual fireworks show on July 3rd over the Alamitos Bay, that attracts tens of thousands of spectators to the area each year.
