The Institute of Forest Engineering is committed to combine nature and technology in a meaningful way and solving the technical issues required in our cultural landscape using integral approaches. The postulate of sustainability, taking into account economic, ecological and social concerns, is our top priority. Our research focuses on developing solutions for future problems using modern scientific methods. Involvement in international cooperation is a matter of course and is constantly being intensified. Practice-oriented projects continuously serve to ensure the implementation of new methods on the basis of concrete tasks and to coordinate the procedures with the users. Teaching aims to provide students with the tools they need to tackle complex problems. In addition to sound specialist training, we offer goal-oriented course content that teaches methodological and social skills. A special range of courses is designed to provide postgraduate training. Working in partnership with other scientific institutions and practitioners is an essential prerequisite for us. In the national environment, we are happy to act as an independent management and coordination center for projects at the interface between nature and technology. At an international level, we see ourselves as a competent partner for technical solutions in mountain area management. To ensure the quality of our work, we keep ourselves constantly informed internally about current activities and set high standards for their evaluation. We see the acceptance by renowned funding institutions, cooperation with renowned scientific partners and the joint implementation of projects with practitioners as external appreciation. We are always open to advice and criticism from outside.
