BOMP is a Research to Business project founded by Aalto University Applied Physics Department and Business Finland. The BOMP (Bayesian Optimization for Material Properties) project was founded by Professor Mikko Alava and his dedicated research group at Aalto University’s Department of Applied Physics. Driven by a passion for innovation and a vision for the future of material science, Professor Alava and his team embarked on a journey to revolutionize how material properties are optimized.
In 2024, with support from Business Finland and Aalto University, the team launched the BOMP-R2B (Research to Business) project. The goal is to transform BOMP into a user-friendly, distributable software package that could be used by industries of all sizes, from small startups to large manufacturing companies.
