BorrowMe has always been a live social experiment on the emergency of social sharing as a mainstream modality of economic productivity. We all see the steady trend toward non-tradition collaborative economic production that accelerated with open source software and will one day involve common social exchange of goods and services far beyond what we see today. We were inspired by the Clue Train and subsequently by Harvard (then Yale) Law Professor Yochai Benkler's ideas encapsulated in "The Wealth of Networks" on technologies enabling impact on social sharing. We sought to enable a kind of cooperative exchange not unlike some aspects of Sean Parker's rouge vision for Napster or the counter-culture Open Source information movement's protection of choice and diversity. BorrowMe is a decidedly unsteady step towards that future, but a step stone none-the-less. The world changes and we race to greet it where we think it will be next. We continue to explore the possibilities for social collaboration in its various forms.
