Having always been a point of reference on the Prosecco panorama, the Bortolomiol winery is based in Valdobbiadene, in the heart of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG appellation area.
The sparkling winemaking company was founded by Giuliano Bortolomiol in the 1940s, although the family tradition dates back to 1760. Giuliano, who graduated from the Conegliano School of Oenology, was the first to create a Prosecco brut.
Today the winery is run by sisters Elvira, Maria Elena, Giuliana and Luisa Bortolomiol, who are committed and passionate about carrying on the family tradition, making continuous investments into technology and overseeing the entire production process. Aided by a team of oenologists headed by Roberto Cipresso, the Bortolomiol sisters focus their attention on sustainable projects that safeguard mankind and the land.
The Bortolomiol family has also renovated and refurbished an ancient silk mill in the centre of Valdobbiadene, inside the Parco della Filandetta. The silk mill has now been converted into a bright and spacious tasting room and today goes by the name of the Art & Wine Farm, acting as a container for all the arts associated with the world of wine, a new concept in which art and culture come together and enrich each other.
In 2019 Bortolomiol, hosted the first artist in residence, chosen from over 300 candidates: The German artist Susken Rosenthal created an installation, ‘Cocoon’, inside the park, taking her inspiration from the history of the winery and the women who worked in the mills.
