The National Lacrosse League got its start in 1987 and was known as Major Indoor Lacrosse in its early years (MILL). The New England Blazers began playing at the Worchester Centrum in 1989. In 1992 they became the Boston Blazers and played at the Garden and Fleet Center from 1992-97. In 1998 the league and teams went from being owned by two individuals to private ownership and the NLL was born. 2009 witnessed the return of the Boston Blazers to the TD Banknorth Garden. The Blazers propeled themselves to the playoffs in their first season by posting a 10-6 record and the sales staff increased paid attendance every game from game 2 until the season finale.
