Dutch designer Wendela de Goederen has a strong drive to transition BoxerinBlue (2015) into a sustainable brand. She is constantly looking at ways to improve her environmental footprint. She has recently transferred BIB’s production from China, where she used to live, to the Netherlands. ‘I’m pleased to present my Made in Holland ( MIH) collection, locally produced in an Amsterdam atelier. I sourced and sourced, found the atelier, and additional suppliers! A huge effort of which I’m very proud to have achieved it on my own, instead of giving up in Corona times when China went in lockdown. To have a transparent supply chain is critical and also helps to get a better insight in my costs as well’.
‘I’d like to categorise BoxerinBlue as slow fashion: the timelessness and quality of the swimwear allow for a long lifespan. Made of a durable swimjersey(SPF50+) customers add on from new colors and designs, to ( mix&match) the existing pieces. Thus avoiding replacing or throwing away their current favorites. Moreover I upcycle opportunities, using the old collections to create new designs’.
Inspired by her travels and her love for water, Wendela has developed swimfashion that is timeless even ageless. Her collection allows the body to follow its natural beauty, using natural push-up. The retro-look designs, of which the wraptops are not underwired (no metal is used al all) appeal to a global audience whi prefer to wear authentic pieces.
