BOYD'S SPEEDWAY HISTORY History: First opened in as a clay oval in 1952 by its namesake, E.A. Boyd. Operated as a paved track from 1962 through 1976, with several NASCAR legends such as the Allisons and the Pettys making laps and scoring victories here. Converted back to dirt track in 1977. December 31, 2020 Chattanooga business man Emerson Russell of Russell Racing bought the Race Track and started planning with only 4 weeks a full race season calendar. Larry Dismukes General Manger of the track is Russell's son-in-law making this a family owned and operated business. The family is excited to be part of the racing world that Emerson grew up in. Emerson raced here when he was younger and it holds a special place in his heart as a local who grew up loving this track.
