Brand Protection Group – BPG is a non-profit organization founded in 2002, aiming to combat counterfeiting in Brazil. The main objective of the association also includes protecting against all intellectual property rights violations, unfair competition, smuggling and the trade of illicit products that do not meet requirements of government regulators.
BPG has focused its activities on the training of public authorities, consumer education, and supporting legislative changes, as well as on the suppression of counterfeiting activity. Currently, the association has well-known companies of different sectors of the economy as members. These sectors include brands in luxury goods, sports and casual apparel, sportswear, beverages, lighters and cigarettes, health and personal care among others.
The association organized during this 20 years o existence more than 170 events and trained over 12.000 public authorities on the counterfeiting of trademarks owned by the companies associated with BPG.
BPG is also a member of the National Council to Combat Piracy and Crimes Against Intellectual Property – CNCP, an agency of the Ministry of Justice and takes part in all initiatives and enforcements to improve the fight against counterfeiting.
