Braintree District Mencap was formed in 1955 to help people with learning disabilities and their families. We have a wide membership throughout the Braintree District, we offer support and activities to adults who have a learning disability, as well as support for families.
We hold a variety of classes and activities throughout the week including Music, Art & Craft, Cookery, Dancing and more. Our popular Thursday evening Gateway Club is very well attended and includes Disco nights, Bingo and Karaoke. We pride ourselves on providing a safe, inclusive environment for people with learning disabilities to come together and socialise, learn, relax and most importantly have fun!
As well as a regular weekly timetable of activities we organise various trips, outings, fundraisers and fayres throughout the year. All funds raised go back into the charity and allow us to continue to offer our services to all those who need them.
Braintree District Mencap is a registered Charity in the UK, Charity Number: 1192674 We are affiliated to Royal Mencap but are responsible for raising all of our own funds to enable us to continue to operate. We receive no statutory funding.
