BRASA USC is our local chapter of the global BRASA organization, which connects more than 100 Brazilian undergraduate, masters and doctoral students. We organize several types of events:
Social: Carnaval parties, Festa Junina parties, freshmen reception as well as end-of-semester barbeques
Educational: we offer free Portuguese lessons for students who are interested in learning about Brazil’s culture and language. We’ve been happy to see students who took Portuguese classes with us decide to study abroad, travel for tourism or work in Brazil!
Cultural: We take the Brazilian culture to USC through events like our conversation with director José Padilha, who came to campus to talk about his experience directing the “Tropa de Elite” movies.
Professional: We have already hosted conferences like BRASA Leads and BRASCON, which involve more than 200 students. We organize workshops so that our members can be ready for interviews and to apply for summer internships.
