About Bureau for Rights-Based Development (BRD)

BRD is a registered not-for-profit Afghan organization. Established in 2002 by Afghans professionals, it focuses on reconstruction and development projects through programmatic interventions. BRD implements and coordinates development, capacity building, human rights and social protection projects and supports the process of the development of a strong, viable and pluralistic civil society. To increase opportunities and capacity of individuals, groups and civil society organizations for to respect, engage in promotion of human rights and women rights and monitor the implementation of the state obligation toward human rights in the country in Afghanistan. To promote the accountability at the local governance level to ensure the local governance institutions are inclusive and accountable to the people, and advocate for creating a space that the local population, specially women, poor and marginalized people are represented in the local decision making process and enable them to participate in the socio-economic development of their communities in Afghanistan To provide protection for the vulnerable groups specially women and children, through provision of opportunity to education, vocational training and income generation in Afghanistan.
