BrewBar is a food company making granola and granola bars from brewers’ spent grains. The grains are collected from local craft breweries to then be upcycled into nutritious and sustainable granola and granola bars.
Brewing is a resource-intensive practice, often leaving brewers with large amounts of waste material to dispose of. Currently there are two major options available: either pay to get the waste material disposed of or having farmers take the spent grains and use them as animal feed or compost. BrewBar offers brewers a third avenue and the opportunity to profit from their waste. In an effort to reduce food waste, grains are dehydrated and ground into a powder used in the granola mix. Brewers’ spent grains are prebiotic supergrains that are high in proteins (over 20%) and fiber, making them optimal for human nutrition. The rest of ingredients in the granola are also sustainably sourced. BrewBar products are tree nut and peanut free.
