India’s housing demand is estimated to be over 5 million annually. Over 90% of this demand is in the affordable segment (less than $50,000 per unit). However, supply has far lagged behind. Brick Eagle is a financial services platform for the affordable housing industry, and we are working to correct this imbalance. We believe a disparity between supply and demand emerges because India does not have many developers who possess all the essential elements required to deliver affordable housing- capital, local relationships and technical competence. Frontline developers tend to lack the organizational DNA required to deliver high volumes at low margins. Modern developers who are set up for mass production are typically unable to navigate the local landscape and Local developers generally have limited access to capital for investment in lands. Brick Eagle is uniquely positioned to enable affordable housing development by bringing together the essential elements required for housing supply and by incubating companies to fill gaps in the affordable housing ecosystem.
