BRIDGEGOOD is an Oakland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing tuition-free career training, creative resources, and a culture of belonging for nontraditional students in design and technology. Since 2009, BRIDGEGOOD has equipped more than 16,500 job seekers—including women of color, first-generation college students, immigrants, and community college learners—with in-demand skills in User Experience (UX), UI, Product, and Visual Design.
Through award-winning programs like the UX Design Apprenticeship (a 3-month workforce development experience with a 90% success rate), the Tech Career Incubator (serving 400+ students annually), and BG Labs (free, open studio access), BRIDGEGOOD provides industry mentorship, real-world tools, and pathways to professional opportunities—all at no cost to students. These initiatives bridge the gap between talent and opportunity, promoting economic mobility and workforce inclusion across the Bay Area and beyond.
In 2024 alone, BRIDGEGOOD delivered 4,200+ hours of training, welcomed 56 coaching professionals, provided 830 meals, and led 480 hours of high school career readiness. The organization is also launching new initiatives such as Cybersecurity + AI for Social Good, a pilot program building digital safety and literacy in under-resourced communities.
Importantly, nearly half of BRIDGEGOOD graduates choose to use their skills for social good—applying UX and design thinking to support nonprofits, small businesses, and community-driven startups tackling real-world challenges. This impact extends far beyond individual success, fostering creative leadership rooted in service and purpose.
To date, BRIDGEGOOD’s work has contributed to over $69.5 million in local economic impact, strengthening diverse talent pipelines and inclusive innovation. The organization is powered by partners such as Google.org, the Golden State Warriors Community Foundation, Adobe, and Craig Newmark Philanthropies.
