Bridges Associates is the latest evolution of an architectural practice founded in 1993 (formerly Ettwein Bridges Architects). Over 25 years we have built up a wealth of expertise in planning processes, conservation and design.
We share a love for quality and originality in all aspects of a building or landscape. Our values include a commitment to managing change in our collective built heritage in a way that respects its significance but recognises the need for modern interventions and innovative solutions.
Through research and building archaeology, we gain a clear understanding of the historic setting and fabric of a place that define its special character. We view this as essential to the process of crafting a design response which is consistent with conservation principles while achieving the required changes to allow a building or a place to continue to be of use to future generations.
Our knowledge based approach is applied on individual buildings but also on the scale of a cityscape. Our input has successfully guided several iconic buildings through the planning process. We have worked with the best designers and makers including: the Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Wilkinson Eyre, Herzog & De Meuron, David Chipperfield providing support to their extraordinary designs.
