Bridging the Gaps Network

Since 1991, as a multi-university-to-community connector, we have built powerful partnerships among community organizations, local leaders, and academic health centers across PA and into NJ. We envision a future healthcare workforce that goes beyond simply treating individuals. - We are teaching students about empathy for and fellowship with the communities they serve by understanding their histories, amplifying their voices, and actively working to improve health and wellbeing. Bridging the Gaps is more than a program—it’s a movement redefining healthcare education and practice, forging lasting connections between future health professionals and the communities that need them. - BTG spans ten locations in two states representing eight academic health centers/universities and has partnered with more than 650 community-based organizations. In thirty-five years BTG has empowered over 6,400 program alumni. BTG alumni are using their collective impact to build on this legacy, forming their own network to champion the power of community partnerships for advocacy and service. This is more than education—it’s a commitment to partnership, collaboration, and lasting change. - Now more than ever, we need to ensure our health and social service workforce have the skills to continue to grow this work in an effort to achieve the vision of creating critical and overdue change within the communities we share. While doing so, we are committed to extending the services of our community partners through a cadre of future health care professional dedicated to learning from those they serve in an effort to achieve well-being for all.
