About Brighter Future (CFL North)
Collaborative family law gives people a way of resolving the family and financial issues around separation or divorce without going to court. It enables separating couples to work together with their lawyers to reach the agreements that are right for them and their family. It’s not a new thing - in fact it’s been available in the UK for well over ten years - but a lot of people don't know about it, and think that if you split up with your husband, wife or partner, there is no alternative but to go through the courts to work things out. For separating couples: Collaborative family lawyers are committed to helping you reach an agreement, and sign a document at the start of the process to say that if it breaks down they can't represent you in court. This ensures that they remain focused on helping you reach agreements that work for you. All of our members are based in the north of England and have trained as collaborative family lawyers or family professionals. You can search our website - www.cflnorth.co.uk - to find a collaborative lawyer in your local area. For family professionals... Our aim is to help more people understand and experience the benefits of a constructive approach and a more amicable separation. As an organisation, our goals are to raise the profile of collaborative family law across the north of England and to support collaborative family lawyers, mediators and other family professionals, including financial advisers, pensions specialists, coaches, therapists and others. Every year we run the Northern Lights conference, which gives family lawyers and professionals opportunities to meet, share experiences with and learn from their peers about how to support more people through the collaborative process. It also allows you to access CPD-accredited soft skills training across a range of topics. There are more details about the benefits of membership on our website: www.cflnorth.co.uk.
