BrightSport

Launching on 1 March 2018, BrightSport is a world-first online platform which enables Queenslanders to book floodlit green spaces for evening sport and recreation, and switches the lights on and off automatically at the designated times. The new technology is an initiative of Advance Queensland’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program and the brainchild of Brisbane electrician and sports lighting expert, Glenn Van Duikeren.In March 2017, Glenn’s company eSwitch Sports Lighting was awarded funding under the SBIR Program to develop BrightSport, which is designed to help more Queenslanders to participate in healthy evening activities. The innovation recognises that while many different codes and clubs utilise their lit sports fields, there are evenings when these spaces are not used and can be shared with the community. With BrightSport, anyone from personal trainers, to families, team sports, or individuals, can simply go online and search for available floodlit green spaces, book the space, and pay securely via PayPal.
